Looking for a few easy ways to address everyday cleaning dilemmas? After years of cleaning, the team here at Living Streak Free have put together five easy ways to keep your home sparkling. Do you have tips of your own? Be sure to let us know about them in your comments!

Cleaning Your Stainless Steel

An easy way to remove chemical stainless steel cleaners is to wet The Ultimate Cloth with water and do not wring it out. It needs to be very wet. Sprinkle baking soda onto the cloth. Directly apply the wet cloth with baking soda onto your appliance and wipe going with the grain of the stainless. Wipe the surface well; flip the cloth to a clean side to finish it off and to remove any of the baking soda residue. If there are still streaks repeat the process until there are no streaks.  As long as you refrain from using stainless steel cleaner you will never have to repeat this process, also, spot treating will now be possible. When finished, wash the cloth in the washing machine to remove the chemical from the cloth.

Votive Holder Cleaner

We all love our candles but hate cleaning the wax remaining at the end of burning. An easy solution. Simply place cooled votives in the freezer for a few hours. Wax shrinks just enough that it pops right out.

Removing Egg Residue

This is not how you want your morning eggs! Having the house or car egged overnight. To easily remove the egg residue apply liquid dishwashing detergent  mixed in a small amount of water, apply with cloth, let stand for a few minutes and rinse with water.

Removing Mug Stains

Tea and coffee staining your cups and mugs? Drop a denture cleaning tablet into the cup with warm water, let sit until the fizzing is finished then rinse. For any remaining stains simply repeat the process.

Bright Whites

Want the whitest whites on the block? Fill a large pot with water and one sliced lemon. Bring to boil, turn off heat, add your whitening challenge and let sit for about an hour, then launder as usual.

The Ultimate Cloth Gives a Real Boost to Green Cleaning

The Dangers of Traditional Cleaning Products

It’s undeniable that there is a growing consciousness about the impact that we, as humans, are having on the environment. Around the world, the media’s focus has been on the negative impact of increase CO2 and the impact of greenhouse gases. Year over year we ignore and pay little to no attention to the impact that conventional cleaning products and methods have been having on our health and the environment.

Studies have shown that chlorofluorocarbons have been playing an increasing and fundamental role as a contributor to the depletion of the ozone layer, and have been largely eliminated from most consumer products. That said, the traditional products throughout your home are typically filled with chemicals and toxins that can have long term impacts.

Whether it’s a toxin or a chemical; cleaning products contain a variety of potentially harmful elements. In many situations this is due to the fact that cleaning companies are so heavily unregulated that they can even avoid warning labels. For example, many cleaning products contain phosphates (which are also a primary component of many fertilizers), which can contaminate water and rob rivers and lakes of oxygen. Likewise, many of your favourite smelling cleaning products are filled with dyes and fragrances which are built from chemicals like phthalates. That’s not all, most cleaning products incorporate other organic compounds into their formulas to improve their perception at the detriment of your health and the environment.

It’s quite obvious that together, these chemicals can have adverse effects on the neurological functions, respiration, and reproductive organs of humans and wildlife. Our use of several different cleaning agents at once (a window cleaner, a basin cleanser, and a toilet bowl cleaner, for example) can exacerbate the products’ effects on our health.

Many wonder, is there a better way? Is there a way to clean my home without suffering from exposure to chemicals? Can I clean my fridge without the risk of contamination? These are great questions and scientists, entrepreneurs and innovators have found a solution:

The Power of Green Cleaning Products

Many Green Cleaning products have been developed with three things in mind; affordability, durability and their ecological impact on both humans and the environment. In response to the concerns about the toxins and chemicals being found in cleaning products and the adverse effects on our health and our planet, green cleaning products are being embraced and celebrated.

Some companies that make green products make a stern stance on certain chemicals and actually go as far as banning their use. Others make a point to disclose all of the ingredients through 100% transparency and authenticity on their labels. What they don’t tell you, is that it’s absolutely possible to have a clean home without using any cleaning products at all. Cleaning without products may take a bit more elbow grease, but water alone can do the trick with the right product.

Why The Ultimate Cloth isn’t just another cloth

For anyone who is an environmentally conscious cleaner, one of the best cleaning tools is a cloth – some would say the ultimate cloth – that uses 100% mirafiber to produce a streak free, dust free, chemical free, and spot free surface. Using this type of cloth means that you don’t have to spend money on paper towels, which add to the waste. Furthermore, the ultimate cloth is guaranteed to last five years as it’s durability ensures consistent use. Many also refer the cloth because it’s washable, bleachable, and can be used over and over again on virtually any surface, from windows and glass to stainless steel and Granite. To summarize the process of using the Ultimate Cloth it’s as simple as this, you just wet it, wring it, wipe your surface, and walk away.

The ultimate cloth saves time, saves money, and, most importantly, helps save the earth. It’s an affordable product that will make you one step closer to living a life streak free.

This Years Top Cleaning Trends And Tips From The Pros

Cleaning Tips & Trends for 2013

Despite your fear, you need to figure out how to stay up on the most recent cleaning trends and tips as a part of your schedule. Let me tell you why.

Many people credit keeping their house clean as a critical piece to their personal happiness. In fact, they treat it less as a chore and more as a way to ensure that when they get home from work they are returning to a place where there is little to no chaos.

A lot of them will get immediate satisfaction from simply walking in the door. What’s important to note however is that while some people find it easy to keep their place spotless most of these people took time to learn how to keep their place tidy effectively and efficiently.

According to a study recently published, spring-cleaning is not just done during March, April and May. In fact, more than 50% of people who responded to a survey expressed that spring cleaning for them is a task that happens all year long. Some went as far as saying keeping their place tidy was “therapeutic” and “relaxing.”

Furthermore, the survey also identified that there is a large percentage of people who are willing to pay someone else to clean their home. This is understandable. Not everyone feels as strongly as we do about keeping their place tidy and that’s why these people are more than happy to pay someone else to spring-clean their homes all year round.

Whether we’re talking about Molly Maids or a solo-entrepreneur doing it as a side job. Home cleaning is so resented that 33 percent of respondents say they are willing to pay someone anywhere from $50 to $100 to do it for them. By staying up on the trends and tips that are happening in the world of cleaning this could very well be a great opportunity for you as a career. Here are some tips to help make the job easier if you do in fact, make the leap:

  • If you don’t have a brush attachment to clean blinds, try wearing a pair of cotton mittens or socks and running them over your blinds.
  • Use an Ultimate Cloth around the home and spark an increase in engagement and interaction
  • By tilting slats down on window blinds, but not closing, you’ll be able to clean most of the top surface of each slat.
  • When cleaning a window-sill make sure you cover the whole surface with a damp cloth sprayed with alcohol so smudges and spots clear off for a beautiful sparkling shine.
  • Cellular shades can be cleaned with a feather duster.
  • Faux wood blinds can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth.
  • Make sure to test a small area when using water and detergent to clean fabric shades. Choose a spot that is not in main view.
  • Wipe your blinds with a sheet of fabric softener after you’ve cleaned them. This will help prevent dust buildup for the next cleaning.

The Best Cleaning Cloths Are Chemical Free

A lot of people ask us what we think are the best cleaning cloths on the market.

&

Well, it’s obvious that our opinion is somewhat bias and that our answer is consistently the same. The Ultimate Cloth differs from other cleaning cloths because other cleaning cloths recommend using more than water. They recommend spraying their cloth with everything from clorox to Mr.Clean.

&

While I’m not going to argue that these chemicals can make things clean; I will argue that they will do a number on your lungs and body if you’re not careful. It may be an exaggeration to say that over years of cleaning with chemicals you could have lungs similar to a chain-smoker. Sure, it’s probably not that bad but you get the gist.

&

The best cleaning cloths on the market are those that don’t require chemicals. The best cleaning cloths are the ones that you can use with nothing butter water and smile as you know that (1) the environment is safe and (2) that you didn’t have to inhale any toxic fumes or hazardous matter. Keep this in mind when you’re buying your next cleaning cloth as there could be potential long term effects if you’re not careful.

&

Because of the reasons highlighted above, the Ultimate Cloth is what we call the worlds best cleaning cloth.

  • Non-toxic! No harmful chemicals, fumes or vapors – JUST ADD WATER!
  • Environmentally friendly! Reusable, durable & long lasting. NO MORE PAPER TOWEL
  • Tough and Gentle! Strong enough for your toughest cleaning jobs and yet no scratches – NO STREAKS!
  • Allergen friendly! Dust and dirt are trapped in the cloth without smells or chemicals which trigger allergies.
  • Clean everything! Stainless steel, counters, glass, porcelain, windows, glass showers, hardwood.
